Hello, everyone! My name’s Yana PoveaMaciel, and I am currently attending my second year at CART. CART is such an incredible facility to learn at. Each class has resources and equipment that would actually be used in a specific career, like electrophoresis chambers for forensic scientists to analyze DNA or legal forms for business people to run a business. Also, each lab has three teachers who are ready to help students more directly. These are some of the things that encouraged me to attend CART for a second year.
Last year, I was in the Forensic and Biotechnology Lab. This lab had so many fascinating experiences, like learning how to process evidence found at a crime scene, participating in mock trials, and processing DNA to find a suspect. This year, I joined the Business and Finance Lab. If you want to pursue a career in business or finance, or aren’t sure what career you want to pursue in the future, Business and Finance is the lab for you. When I joined this class, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in my future. But at the start of the year, we began a project where we picked a career and budgeted our future to reach that goal. Our incredible teachers have you take a test to figure out what jobs might be for you and have you research the ones that interest you. This is where I figured out I want to be an anesthesiologist assistant. This class also prepares you for other life skills like learning how to do taxes, budget your money, and run a side hustle.
The people there are a whole other experience. Many teachers have had a non-school job in the subject they teach and show that passion to teach it. And the population of students from different schools helps you connect with people you normally wouldn’t have. It’s also a place where you can bond with people who have similar interests to you.
Honestly, CART is an incredible opportunity for anyone. With their vast range of labs, they offer experiences for many different career paths. They help students really prepare for their futures, helping students feel more confident in life after graduation.
