This Week At CART – Ezri Liggett

Hello! My name is Ezri Liggett, and I’m a student in the Biotechnology lab and an alumni of the Environmental Science and Field Research lab. This week at CART, the Biotechnology students are busy preparing for their first big presentation of the year, as well as finishing up a large research paper about a pandemic/epidemic of their choice. We have been learning about bacteria and genetic engineering all semester, and this week we started a lab in which we will be editing the genes of bacteria! All groups in the lab have been dutifully researching both a biotechnology solution for the future and a pandemic of the past for their two big upcoming projects…Very exciting.

At CART the students are able to learn using hands-on experience. Many labs have been meeting with industry experts to help grow their knowledge and with Winter Showcase on the horizon the building is bustling with excitement and urgency.

For CART seniors, college application deadlines are quickly approaching, and we have had many different institutions visit and set up booths during break. Our teachers and staff have been working hard to help support everyone in the daunting application process. As well as the Staff, the students have also been working hard to get assignments, applications, and projects in on time. We are anxiously anticipating the upcoming fall break, but we are looking forward to what will come next semester.
