My name is Dellon Moua, and I am a CART ambassador currently attending AM Law and Policy. Recently, in honor of the new school year, my lab and I competed in the annual CART Olympics! I like to think of the CART Olympics literally as the Olympics but just here at CART. For CART Olympics, I worked with my lab to gather costumes so picture perfect, and a dance so choreographed that it looked better than a music video. Every year I look forward to this event, as well as every single event we have at CART. Oftentimes, I get to expand my horizons and get to know more people and their interests at these events, but most of all, I get to connect with people while actually having fun competing with or against them which I don’t usually get to do at my home school of Clovis High.
Currently, in my lab, we are starting to learn more about the legal system with civil discourse and understanding how to debate. However, we didn’t just learn about it by reading or listening to our teachers explain it to us like I would usually do at my home school; we actually got to do our own research, set up and eventually conduct our own debate. This debate actually had a fun twist as we got to work with new people and talk about fast food! My group and I debated about why El Pollo Loco was better than Del Taco, but there were also other fast food chains that debated as well. I never really knew that there were so many things that could be said about fast food until then. My teachers also actually incorporated teaching us English during our debate, hoping we wouldn’t notice, but this actually made learning English extremely fun in a very unique and creative way which actually is one of the best things that CART has to offer. Throughout my time here at CART I have met all sorts of people and seen my fair share of unbelievable things that blow my mind every single day because it is not like a normal high school here. My labs continually and creatively push me towards the career field that I am really interested in. Hopefully one day, I will be there using what I actually learned in school in the real world which no one really ever says unless they take CART. In the end, I’ve noticed why CART is so universally acknowledged and respected, as well as why thousands of students try to get into CART every year.
