This Week At CART – Calen Sullivan

My name is Calen Sullivan, and I am a student in AM Law/Order and Policy. This week in my Lab we dove into our second project of advocacy. We decided on a group of people we wanted to advocate for, and then we did research on nonprofit groups that are attempting to help these groups. We met with mentors from the community to help get tips and advice from them in order to improve our ideas and our ultimate outcomes. My class is interactive, fun, and uses a lot of our Habits Of Mind here at CART. For example, a huge part of my class uses the HOM of “Connect” by using what we learn in one subject, to connect it to another one. We study Law, Government and English…and everything is integrated and feels very connected.

Also this week, we CART hosted a counselor breakfast for all the counselors in FUSD as well as CUSD. Counselors got to sit down and eat a nice breakfast, and then hear from myself and some of the other CART ambassadors about what makes CART so unique and special. Afterwards, they got to participate in a raffle with prizes. This breakfast connects both districts as well as showcases the wonders of CART. I can’t wait to continue my year at CART and continue to participate in all the fun opportunities it grants me!
