Hello! I am a senior attending the Center for Advance Research and Technology. I take part in the Forensic and Biotechnology lab. Year-around, the class environment is fast-paced, easy-going, and exciting. You will definitely be on the edge of your seat learning how to take down fingerprints, complete blood pattern analysis, and how to look at all kinds of prints from footprints to tire marks. We do all of this while meeting eccentric professionals and engaging with peers in our science and English curriculums.
Recently in the Forensics class, our third project is an introduction to criminal psychology. In this project, I learned how to profile psychopaths with traits they exhibit and the nature or nurture they have experienced. Furthermore, in this class, I have learned about the different areas of authority such as the S.W.A.T. Team, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Highway Patrol. In addition, the teachers created a simulated crime scene where we worked the scene to gather evidence, just like in the real world.
I would greatly recommend this Lab to my peers, but I would recommend any classes offered at CART because it is such a different way of learning than a regular high school. The teachers are welcoming and their methods are easy to understand. We engage in peer interactions to further our critical thinking. Overall, the environment is student-oriented. Therefore, I encourage students to apply and take the courses that CART has to offer.
