Cashton Stephens - Engineering, Manufacturing, and Robotics Lab

My name is Cashton Stephens, and I am currently a senior at CART and Clovis High School. Last year, I took the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Robotics (EMR) lab, and this year I am continuing as a second-year student. I love CART because of the learning environment it creates. Everything we do is hands-on and collaborative, which is something I had never experienced at my home school.

In the EMR lab, we learn how to apply the engineering design process and solve problems using critical thinking. This week, I am working on my zoo enrichment project. As a second-year student, my task is to create an artificial concrete rock that houses a bubble machine. The rock will be placed in an animal exhibit. We use CAD, 3D printing, laser cutting, and many other tools to complete our projects. I apply the skills I’ve learned in class to solve problems that come up during the design and building process.

CART has shaped me into a better learner and has strongly prepared me for my future in engineering and the professional world. It has also made me love learning again. With so many unique classes offered, I would recommend CART to anyone.
