We are Trevor Cunningham, Cody Cornelius, Ben Bossarte, and James Watson, second-year engineering students and recent winners of the Best Showcase Presentation competition.
Trevor Cunningham
I was originally extremely nervous about presenting, and I was scared of how I would do. However, I was excited for the opportunity to present in front of the public. Our group spent multiple days practicing together and working on our presentation. While we didn’t practice to win, we practiced to take advantage of the opportunity and perform to the best of our ability. When I put a lot of time and effort into a project like this, it feels really good to see our success not just by winning, but also by improving our ability to present. I am very grateful for the entire experience, and I would recommend it to others, even if the idea is uncomfortable at first.
Cody Cornelius
This experience was a major accomplishment for me, as our team invested significant time and effort into preparing the presentation. We spent multiple days practicing, revising, and refining our content to make it as effective as possible within the limited time we had. While winning the competition was not our primary goal, we were motivated to perform at our best and fully take advantage of the opportunity. Through this experience, I significantly improved my presentation skills, and winning the competition was the rewarding outcome that made all the hard work worthwhile.
Ben Bossarte
Presenting is something that I have always been passionate about. I really enjoy sharing things with people, especially the cool projects we do in the Engineering Lab. We invested a significant amount of time in this presentation, and I believe we demonstrated that. I’d like to thank everyone who watched our presentation throughout every stage of the process and gave us valuable feedback.
James Watson
Presenting has never been a skill that I have been particularly good at, so hearing from my instructors that I will be in the presentation group was initially very nerve-wracking. When we started to practice our presentation, I was worried about the amount of time we had to prepare it. Our presentation ended up turning out to be great, and this is due to getting feedback from the EMR lab, Dr. Watson, and Dean Bynum. The presentation was very fun, and I would definitely do it again!
