October 2005 CART Tech Students Work with CUSD Tech Department
Clovis Unified is in the process of converting to a Metropolitan Area Network system (MAN) and CART technology students are seeing first hand what a complicated process it is. Students in Halbert Bynum's Network Management program assisted the district technology department in facilitating the cutover at Reyburn Intermediate School during the last weekend in September.

"Our big project was to move all 300 users, 350 computers, 150 printers, 35 wireless access points, and 165 network switches in a single weekend, without interrupting the work flow" relates Richard Kebo, Manager of Network Services for the district.
"CART students were invaluable in helping us to identify the location of all our network devices and their configurations which helped make this cutover successful" added district Administrator Information Technology, Chuck Philips.
CART students who assisted with the cutover included Nicole Brown, Daniel Rodriquez, Mason Monson, Vance Nguyen, Becky Welch, Anthony Ramirez, Aaron Sue, Simon Trujillo and Ryan Winiecke. All are enrolled in the Network Management Lab.
"Working with Clovis Unified on this project has given me hands on experience and an insight into what techs really do at our schools" commented senior Aaron Sue.
"We are so impressed with the student's appearance and their professionalism, we are planning to use them for future district projects" added Richard Kebo.
